Intuitive Eating

Have you ever felt guilty about enjoying Christmas pudding at Christmas dinner or because you eat something after 7pm? Have you ever tired of feeling at war with your own bodies? Does all that sound familiar? If your answer is yes, time to meet Intuitive Eating which is basically a method that allows us to be an expert on our own body. Well, that sounds too good to be true, right?

Intuitive eating is a personal process in which we honour our health by observing and responding to hunger and satiety signals from our body and our needs in order to meet our physical and psychological requirements (1). In intuitive eating, there is no passing or failing outcome like dieting, rather it’s a journey of discovery (2).

Think of babies because we were all born intuitive eaters, who cry when they need food, stop when they’re full. Babies may eat more one day and the less the next, but it all balances out.

Now think about what happens when you become an adult…We’re started to told to eat certain foods and to limit others. We also learn that certain bodies are more valued than others. Intuitive eating is a counter to this. It teaches you how to get back to eating the way you were born to and you are the only one who has the power to make these decisions.

Maybe you are someone who has heard the term intuitive eating for the first time, or maybe you are someone who is on a journey of intuitive eating. No matter which stage you are at right now, you should trust the process and believe yourself Imagine being that person who eats the entire cake and doesn’t feel guilty about it… Yes, this can be you gorgeous.
